Working Overtime This Holiday Season...
We're closing out on the month of November and you've got a few things on your mind! These concerns may include school schedules, work deadlines, holidays, how to navigate family non-gatherings, and now you're realizing you can't keep putting off your kitchen remodel!
Don't worry, we've got your back. Every day we address issues around kitchen remodeling contractors, average kitchen remodel cost, how to find remodeling contractors near me, or the less intense kitchen makeovers.
The reality is that kitchen remodels can be put off for up to five or ten years but if you wait too long, you may be at risk of leaks, floods, and serious appliance issues. If there are leaks, then you could have dry rot in your framing or worse! Don't' wait.
Check out these three tips to help you get through your holiday kitchen renovation!
- Understand the holiday kitchen remodel and timeline
- Understand the materials delivery protocols
- Understand the dust and dirt before you schedule gatherings
Understand The Holiday Remodel & Timeline
For the 2020 Holiday schedule and how it impacts home remodeling contractors, here is what you need to know:
The following holidays are not business days, so manufacturers, venders, and suppliers will be closed.
- Thanksgiving - November 26th
- Black Friday - November 27th
- Christmas Eve - Thursday, December 24th
- Christmas Day - Friday, December 25th
- News Years Eve - Thursday, December 31st
- New Years Day - Friday, January 1st
Hopefully this list helps, because it will affect production in two ways. There are six fewer business days in this next season, so we loose one week there.
But, momentum matters and three of six weeks are three day work weeks instead of five day work weeks.
Therefore momentum will be negatively affected for all the players on the team. This is beautiful and necessary for enjoying the holidays and our families.
Ensure you take this into account and add another two+ weeks to your home renovation schedule if it stratals the holiday season.
Understand The Materials Delivery Protocols
Materials are in stock in some cases, but are back ordered in other cases.
The goal is to keep the project going once it is started. When we can wait until we have all products on hand before starting, we will have a great time getting your project completed on time with no breaks.
The thing to be on the lookout for is when a contractor wants to get started on your small kitchen remodel or large kitchen remodel ASAP, then play it by ear...no! This will not end well.
You can always survey and search kitchen remodeling companies near me, but at Teknik, we ensure that we are checking on product availability before a contract has even been signed so that we can pivot if we need to and select a similar product/material that will be available and allow the project to move forward.
Once we have everything we need for the first 50% of construction, we will begin demolition, so that the phases play out in smooth succession.
Understand The Dust Before You Schedule Parties
Do you want the good news or the bad news first?
Let's go with the bad news first.
The bad news is that your holiday season will be affected by your home remodel and there is nothing you can do about it. Especially when it comes to your kitchen and baths. Your contractor will impact the cleanliness and schedule but he doesn't have 100% control over it so schedule parties at your own risk.
Now for the good news.
The good news is that the Teknik teams will do the following to keep your home clean during remodeling:
- Mask off the construction area whenever possible
- Cover and mask or move furniture as needed
- Cover the floor with ram paper
- Run an air scrubber during demolition
- Run a HEPA filter
- Maintain a broom clean work area every day
With these practices in place, we end up with "the crew was so clean!" in most of our reviews. But don't take our word for it. Check out our reviews at rb.gy/h2u1su!
